The Aama Yangri Trek is a hidden gem in Nepal’s Helambu region, offering a perfect blend of spiritual significance, natural beauty, and peaceful trekking trails. Located just 5–6 hours’ drive from Kathmandu, the trek leads to the Aama Yangri Peak (3,800m), a sacred mountain believed to be the guardian goddess of the Hyolmo (Yolmo) people.
This short trek rewards you with 360-degree views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and even distant peaks of Annapurna and Everest on clear days. The trail passes through dense rhododendron forests, Buddhist monasteries, and traditional Tamang and Hyolmo villages like Tarkeghyang and Melamchi Ghyang.
Ideal for trekkers of all levels, the Aama Yangri trek is both a spiritual pilgrimage and a peaceful mountain escape, just a few days away from the capital.
8 Days / Easy Trekking
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. (1,350 m).
DAY 2: Sightseeing/ Explore highlights of Kathmandu.
DAY 3 : Drive from Kathmandu to Sermathang (2,610m).
Day 4: Trek from Sermathang to Tarkegyang (2,600m).
Day 5: Trek from Tarkegyang to Aama Yangri (3,771m) and return to Tarkegyang (2,600m).
Day 6 : Trek from Tarkegyang to Melamchi Gaon (846 m).
Day 7 : Drive from Melamchi Gaon to Kathmandu (1,350 m).
Day 8: Departure from Nepal.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. (1,350 m)
Welcome to beautiful country Nepal. After arrival in Kathmandu our team will pick you up from the airport, will greet and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening our team member will do briefing after that you can enjoy welcome dinner featured by Nepalese cuisine.

Day 2 : Sightseeing / Explore Highlights of Kathmandu.
After breakfast we will pick you up to explore major highlights of the city which includes Bouddhanath, Durbar squares, Swambhunath etc. After visiting the highlights you can transferred either to the homestay at Dadhikot Bhaktapur or to the hotel as per your preference.

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Sermathang (2,610m).
After breakfast our journey starts with a drive through Melamchi and into the beautiful Helambu region, ending at the village of Sermathang. Today we will have Scenic drive through countryside, terraced fields and traditional Tamang villages.
Drive Duration: 6-7 hrs / Transport: Private car / Meal Plan : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner / Overnight: Teahouse in Sermathang.
Day 4: Trek from Sermathang to Tarkegyang (2,600m).
It will be an easy and peaceful trail leads to the beautiful village of Tarkegyang which is home to a large monastery and classic stone houses. The heighlights from todays trek will be forests, suspension bridges, local Buddhist stupas and gompas.
Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs / Meal Plan : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner / Overnight: Teahouse in Tarkegyang.
Day 5: Trek from Tarkegyang to Aama Yangri (3,771m) and return to Tarkegyang (2,600m).
The most important and spiritual day of the trek. Aama Yangri is considered a sacred peak representing the Mother Protector. No climbing is allowed beyond the viewpoint. Fom the Aama Yangri Peak viewpoint we will have mesmarizing panoramic views of Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Shishapangma (Tibet) as well as Rhododendron forests and yak pastures.

Day 6: Trek from Tarkegyang to Melamchi Gaon (846 m).
Today we descend into the culturally rich and serene Melamchi Gaon, a prominent village with heritage monasteries and stunning landscapes. We will pass through Tamang villages, prayer wheels, mani walls and peaceful forested trails.
Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs / Meal Plan : Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner / Overnight: Teahouse in Melamchi Gaon.
Day 7 : Drive from Melamchi Gaon to Kathmandu (1,350 m).
Ending the trek with a relaxing drive back to Kathmandu. Buy souveniors to take back home and enjoy your well-earned farewell dinner in the evening.
